Before furniture pickup in Dubai, confirm the item list, access window and payment arrangement, then clear personal belongings and the route out. You should not need to carry heavy furniture downstairs yourself. The goal is to make the agreed collection safe and clear.
This checklist is for the day before and the day of collection. For the whole selling process, start with our step-by-step guide.
The evening before: review what is leaving
Compare your final item list with the accepted quote. Check quantities, accessories and anything excluded. If you have sold or kept an item since the quote, tell the buyer before the crew travels.
Mark the pieces that stay. In a partly furnished home, do not rely on someone remembering a spoken instruction about a similar chair in the next room. Use a clear label and tell the person supervising collection.
Empty every drawer, cupboard, storage bed and side pocket. Check for keys, jewellery, documents, chargers and small personal belongings. A cabinet should not be treated as a box for transporting your possessions to the buyer.
Confirm access with building management
Check the requirements for your specific property. These can include a moving permit, a lift booking, a loading-bay time or visitor details. Do not assume another resident’s experience applies to your collection.
Confirm that the collection window fits any approved slot. Share loading instructions with the buyer and let security know as required by management. If a permit is still pending, say so before the vehicle departs.
For tower-specific planning questions, see our Dubai Marina collection guide. The principle is the same elsewhere: get access confirmed before relying on the date.
Prepare the items without taking unnecessary risks
- Remove bedding from a bed so its condition is visible.
- Put included remotes, keys and small fittings in labelled bags.
- Empty furniture before it is moved.
- Clear loose objects from tables and tops of cabinets.
- Keep children and pets away from the carrying route.
- Leave heavy lifting and dismantling to the agreed team.
Do not dismantle furniture unless the buyer has asked you to and the method is safe. If an item needs specialist disconnection, such as a gas cooker, AC or complex appliance installation, agree that work separately.
Follow appliance manuals for preparation. There is no single shutdown or transport procedure that applies to every machine.
On arrival: confirm the scope before loading
Have one authorised person present. Walk through the included items and show any condition issue that might not have been obvious in the photos.
If an inspection changes the offer, ask for the reason and confirm the revised amount before releasing the goods. Do not let a rushed loading process replace an agreement.
Confirm payment method and timing. For a transfer, check your own account for receipt rather than relying on a screenshot sent by someone else. For cash, check the agreed amount at the handover.
Check the space before the crew leaves
Look through each room and compare it with the inventory. Check whether any agreed accessories were missed. Confirm what remains, especially unsuitable items that were excluded from the purchase.
If you booked a sale, that does not necessarily mean every unwanted object will be removed. If you also agreed a clearance, check the separate scope. See our home furniture clearance service for the relevant enquiry.
Common questions
Should I move the furniture to the lobby?
Ask the buyer and building management first. Blocking a shared area or moving a large item without the right help can create more problems than it solves.
What if the lift is unavailable?
Tell the team before they travel where possible. Do not assume a stair carry is included or safe for every item. Agree an alternative plan.
Can a friend supervise for me?
Yes, if they are authorised to confirm the scope and receive payment. Make that arrangement clear to everyone beforehand.
What if I need collection today?
Send the access details and deadline immediately. Our same-day pickup guide explains why availability and building approval need checking.
Confirm the last details
Message Al Madina if the inventory, access or preferred time changes. A short update before collection is much easier to resolve than a surprise at the door.
