Used garden and balcony furniture in Dubai is worth an enquiry when it is stable, complete and suitable for another home. Show the condition of frames, joints, seating surfaces and cushions. Outdoor furniture can look presentable from a distance while damage is hidden underneath.
Start with the whole set, then photograph the areas exposed to sun, moisture and daily use. Tell the buyer whether you are selling the table, all chairs, cushions and covers together.
Describe the material without guessing
Outdoor sets can include aluminium, steel, timber, plastic, woven synthetic material and mixed construction. “Rattan furniture” is often used loosely. If you are unsure, send the product label and close-ups rather than stating a material as fact.
Material affects handling and repair, but condition still needs checking. A metal set with weak joints is a different enquiry from a similar set that is clean and structurally sound.
Do not rely on weight alone to identify metal or wood. A buyer may need a closer look to confirm what the piece is made from.
Check beneath the furniture
- Metal frames: show corrosion, loose joints, damaged feet and sharp edges.
- Woven seats: photograph broken strands, sagging and exposed frame sections.
- Timber: show cracks, loosened joints and areas that feel unstable.
- Plastic parts: disclose brittleness, cracking or discolouration.
- Cushions: show tears, staining, odours and damaged zips.
- Tables: disclose chips, cracked glass or a loose top.
Do not sit on an unstable chair to demonstrate it. Explain the fault clearly. A buyer may assess a repairable item, decline it or distinguish it from the pieces they can purchase.
Keep the inventory specific
Write “one table, four chairs and four seat cushions” rather than “complete garden set”. If a cover, parasol, base or extending part is included, list it separately.
A parasol without its base, for example, is a different package from a ready-to-use set. Tell the buyer about anything you plan to keep. Missing accessories should not be discovered during loading.
If you are clearing a larger property, use our room-by-room villa walkthrough to record indoor and outdoor items together.
Should you repaint or replace the cushions?
Request an offer before spending money. A light clean can show the condition more clearly. Repainting a rusty frame or buying new cushions may cost more than the extra amount you receive.
Do not cover corrosion or a crack to make the furniture look sound. The buyer needs to assess structural condition, not just the finish. If restoration is important to you, get professional advice and keep an honest description of the work done.
Plan access from the garden or balcony
A ground-floor garden does not always mean easy loading. Mention gates, narrow paths, steps and whether a collection vehicle can stop legally nearby.
For a balcony, measure the doorway and explain the route through the apartment. If a table was assembled outside and cannot pass through the door intact, say so before booking. Building approvals and lift access may still apply.
Our Jumeirah furniture service covers enquiries from that area. For other neighbourhoods, check our Dubai collection coverage.
Common questions
Can I sell furniture with faded cushions?
You can ask. Show the fading and any other wear. It may affect the assessment, but the frame, completeness and overall condition also matter.
Will you buy a badly rusted set?
Do not assume it can be purchased for reuse. Send photos, disclose the damage and ask whether it requires a different collection route.
Do old outdoor pieces still have value?
Sometimes. Age is one factor, not the entire assessment. Our old furniture guide explains what makes an older piece worth checking.
