When selling furniture in Dubai, confirm payment through your own account or check the agreed cash amount before releasing the items. Do not enter card details or a one-time password through a link sent by an unknown buyer to “receive” money.
A quick sale can be convenient. It should still leave time to identify the buyer, agree the inventory and understand how payment and collection work.
The courier-link warning to recognise
In its official seller warning, dubizzle describes messages that impersonate the platform or a courier. A link leads to a page asking for card information to receive a supposed buyer payment. Dubizzle advises sellers to avoid those instructions, use its own chat and verify transfers in their account before sending items.
Open the marketplace through its official app or a known address when you need to check a message. A familiar logo on a page is not enough to establish who operates it.
Keep the arrangement easy to verify
Before collection, write down the buyer’s name or business identity, the items, agreed amount, payment method and collection window. Keep the original enquiry and final item list together.
If a different person will collect, ask how they relate to the buyer and confirm that arrangement through the existing conversation. Do not switch to an entirely new payment instruction just because a courier or driver is at the door.
For a furniture business, check that the identity and contact details are consistent across its website and the enquiry. Ask direct questions where something is unclear. A branded vehicle or a professional-looking website is useful context, not proof on its own.
Our guide to choosing a furniture buyer covers the purchase and collection questions to ask.
Do not let a screenshot replace payment
A message saying “sent” and an image of a transaction do not tell you what your own account has received. Check independently through your bank’s usual app or service. If the payment cannot be confirmed, pause the handover.
For cash, make the amount and handover timing clear before loading starts. If someone else supervises, ensure they know the agreed amount and are authorised to receive it.
Do not leave a friend to make a payment decision without the original quote. Give them the item list and tell the buyer who will be present.
Make a private viewing manageable
Arrange a clear time, share only the location information needed for the visit and keep personal paperwork out of view. Have another person present if that makes you more comfortable.
Show only the furniture being assessed. Do not send a home walkthrough that includes documents, passwords written on a desk or other unnecessary private details.
A private sale involves different coordination from a business collection. Our marketplace comparison helps you choose the route that fits your time and handling needs.
If something changes on the day
An inspection may reveal a genuine condition issue, and a provisional offer may be revised. Ask what changed and decide whether to accept before the item leaves.
Treat a new request for a payment link, fee or confidential information as a separate issue. A condition discussion does not require you to give a stranger card credentials.
If you have already entered sensitive payment information, contact your bank through an official channel promptly. Use the marketplace’s official reporting route for the suspicious account or message.
Common questions
Does every low offer indicate a scam?
No. Different buyers have different costs and resale customers. Compare the scope and decide whether the offer is acceptable. A low price and an attempt to obtain card details are different problems.
Is a buyer collecting from far away automatically suspicious?
No. Ask for a clear collection arrangement and independently verify payment. Distance alone does not establish whether a transaction is genuine.
Should I keep the message history?
Yes. It helps you refer back to the inventory, price and collection details, and report a suspicious conversation where necessary.
