Compare furniture offers in Dubai by the amount you keep and the work included, not just the biggest number in a WhatsApp message. Two quotes are only comparable when they cover the same items, condition and collection arrangement.
One buyer may offer a purchase price for your sofa and fridge. Another may quote for a full home, including storage that needs separate removal. The numbers answer different questions until the scope is clear.
Give each buyer the same information
Make one photo set and one item list. Send the same version to everyone you contact. Include damage, approximate age, quantities, your area and access details. Tell each buyer the same preferred date.
If you sell an item or change what you are keeping, send the updated list before agreeing a collection. Otherwise the first offer may no longer apply.
Read our furniture valuation guide for the factors behind a price. There is no universal percentage of the original retail cost that every buyer must pay.
Check these parts of every offer
| Question | What to ask for |
|---|---|
| What is being bought? | Names and quantities of the included items |
| What will I receive? | The agreed net payment in AED |
| Is pickup included? | Collection, loading and any agreed dismantling |
| Are any costs separate? | Removal, technician work or other exclusions |
| Is the price final? | Inspection conditions and reasons it could change |
| When is collection? | A date and time window, subject to building access |
| When do I get paid? | Payment method and the point at which items are released |
You do not need a long contract for a basic enquiry. You do need answers clear enough to refer back to on collection day.
A simple example of net proceeds
Consider two illustrative offers, not current market prices. Buyer A offers AED 900 with agreed collection included. Buyer B offers AED 1,050, but a separate removal service would cost AED 250.
The second arrangement leaves AED 800 before any other costs. The higher headline number is therefore not the higher net return in this example.
The same calculation applies when there are items neither buyer wants. Find out what happens to those items and what that costs. A sale does not automatically include an empty property at the end.
Understand inspection conditions
Photos help a buyer estimate condition, but they may not show a broken mechanism, an odour or damage underneath a unit. Ask whether the offer is provisional until inspection.
If an offer changes, ask which new information caused the revision. Check it against what you already disclosed. You can pause and decide whether to accept the revised arrangement before the furniture leaves.
An unusually high or low number deserves a question. It is not proof of dishonesty on its own. Different buyers have different collection costs and resale routes. Our guide to choosing a buyer explains the checks that help.
Value the collection plan as well as the price
If you have a fixed handover date, ask whether the proposed time fits your building’s approved moving window. Confirm who obtains the permit and who books the lift. A good price is not useful if the crew cannot enter.
If you have time to sell privately, compare that option too. It involves advertising, messages, viewings and a collection arrangement with the eventual purchaser. See our marketplace-versus-buyer comparison.
Questions sellers ask
How many quotes should I get?
Enough to understand your options without delaying your deadline. Two or three written assessments can be a useful starting point, but there is no fixed rule.
Can I ask for an item-by-item breakdown?
Yes. A buyer may prefer a single lot price, but should explain what is included and what is excluded. Ask about any item you want to compare separately.
Does free pickup mean every item is accepted?
No. Pickup terms apply to the agreed items. Confirm unsuitable furniture and any disposal separately.
