Used furniture in Dubai has no fixed price list or universal percentage of its original cost. A realistic assessment depends on the item, condition, model, demand and collection work. The useful starting point is a clear photo set and a written offer for the actual furniture you want to sell.
An expensive purchase can still receive a modest offer years later. Equally, an older, well-made piece may remain worth assessing. Retail cost and age help identify an item, but neither gives you a resale price by itself.
What affects a furniture offer?
| Factor | What the buyer needs to know |
|---|---|
| Item and model | Type, brand, dimensions and product label if available |
| Condition | Damage, odours, stability, working mechanisms and previous repairs |
| Completeness | Included chairs, cushions, shelves, keys and fittings |
| Material | Confirmed construction, or photos if the material is unknown |
| Resale suitability | Whether the item is practical to reuse and move |
| Collection | Area, floor, lift, dismantling needs and access window |
Clear information reduces guesswork. It does not guarantee the buyer will offer what you originally hoped to receive.
Asking prices are not completed sale prices
Marketplace listings can help you see similar models, but an advertised amount is not proof that the furniture sold for that amount. Compare condition, included parts and pickup arrangements too.
A furniture buyer also needs to account for transport, handling, possible repair, storage and resale risk. A private purchaser and a business buyer can therefore offer different amounts for the same piece.
Our marketplace-versus-buyer guide helps you compare the time and work involved.
Should you sell the whole lot or individual pieces?
Get an assessment for the full lot before deciding. A combined collection may be convenient and make handling easier to plan. It does not always produce a higher price per item.
If you have one standout piece and enough time, a private sale may be worth considering. Compare what you expect to receive against the time involved and the cost of dealing with the remaining items.
Do not change the included furniture after accepting a lot offer without updating the buyer. A smaller lot may need a different price or collection plan.
Improvements worth checking before you spend
A basic clean, locating the correct remote and putting matching parts together can help a buyer assess the item accurately. Expensive upholstery, refinishing or technical repairs may not recover their cost through a sale.
Request an assessment in the current condition first. If you are considering a repair, compare its cost with the possible change in the offer. Do not hide a fault with paint or a flattering camera angle.
What a useful quote should confirm
- The exact items and quantities being purchased.
- The purchase amount in AED and payment method.
- Whether the offer is provisional until inspection.
- Collection, loading and any agreed dismantling.
- Separate work or costs for unsuitable items.
- The proposed date, subject to approved property access.
A sale and a paid removal are different arrangements. Ask which is being offered before accepting.
Common valuation questions
Can you value furniture from photos?
Photos can support an initial assessment. A buyer may still need an inspection to check a mechanism, hidden damage or the access route. Ask about those conditions.
Does age make furniture unsellable?
No. Age is one factor. Construction, condition, completeness and demand also matter.
Will a brand invoice guarantee a better offer?
It helps identify the model and purchase date. Current condition and resale suitability still need assessment.
