Majlis Furniture Buyers in Dubai: Selling a Complete Arabic Seating Set

Illustration of traditional majlis seating

For a majlis furniture enquiry in Dubai, show the whole seating arrangement and state exactly what is included. Seating, tables, cushions and rugs may be assessed together or separately. Keep the inventory clear so the offer reflects the actual sale.

Define the included set

A coordinated set can be useful for someone furnishing a room, but it is not always valued as one indivisible item. Ask for an assessment of the pieces you actually want to sell.

If you are keeping the rug or tables, state that before quoting. Compare whole-set and partial-set options without assuming a fixed percentage loss.

What buyers actually check

The frames, not the fabric

Turn a piece over if you can. Carved hardwood frames are the value. Upholstery is a consumable and recovering it is routine and relatively cheap, which means tired fabric on a sound frame is not the problem it looks like.

A cracked or repaired frame is a different matter. That cannot be fixed economically, and it takes the piece out of the set.

Whether it is one set or two merged

Villas accumulate. It is common to find a majlis that started as one set and had pieces added later from a different one. Buyers spot mismatched wood tone and carving depth quickly, and a merged set is priced as the smaller matching group plus some spare seating.

Fabric type

Heavy woven fabrics and velvets are standard and fine. Anything that has faded unevenly, usually the pieces nearest a window, moves the set down a band. Look along the row of cushions in daylight and you will see it immediately.

Complete rooms sell. Individual pieces from a broken set are the hardest things in this trade to move.

The rug is part of the deal

Owners frequently plan to keep the rug, which is understandable and often the right call if it is a good one. But be clear about it at quoting stage rather than on collection day.

Identify a rug separately if you want an individual assessment. Show dimensions, labels, construction and known history without assuming a particular origin or value. A potentially valuable piece may need specialist advice. State clearly if it is being kept.

Dismantling and access

Majlis seating is bulky rather than heavy, and it usually comes apart into manageable sections. The problem is normally the villa rather than the furniture: older Jumeirah and Al Wasl properties have narrow entrance halls and internal doors that were sized for people rather than corner units.

Mention at quoting stage whether the majlis is on the ground floor and whether the van can reach the door. It changes the crew size, not usually the price, as covered in our guide to what to expect from furniture buyers in Jumeirah.

Common questions

Can worn upholstery be assessed?

Yes, show it alongside the frame condition. Recovering may or may not be economical for the particular set.

Can I keep the tables?

Yes. Make the exclusion clear and ask for the offer on the seating alone.

How long will collection take?

Ask the buyer to assess volume, dismantling and access. There is no fixed duration or crew size for every majlis.

Getting a majlis valued

Photograph the whole room from two corners so the full set is visible, then close-ups of the carving, the frame underneath one piece, and the rug. Say clearly what is and is not included.

Send the photos on WhatsApp for a photo-based assessment on the set. We collect majlis furniture free across Jumeirah, Al Barsha and every other area of Dubai, either on its own or as part of a full villa clearance.
