What Sofa Buyers in Dubai Actually Pay, and Why

Living and dining room with a grey sofa and wooden dining table

A used sofa offer in Dubai depends on its condition, construction, model, completeness and collection work. There is no fixed price for every three-seater or L-shaped sofa. Show the upholstery, mechanism, frame where accessible and any defects before accepting an assessment.

The gap is not buyers being difficult. It is that sofa resale in this city runs on a small number of hard rules, and almost nobody knows them before they need them.

Assess covering and structure together

Show the material where known, stains, tears, peeling and odours. Upholstery matters alongside frame stability, cushions, mechanisms and dimensions.

Do not assume every worn cover makes a sofa unusable or every leather sofa holds more value. Ask for an assessment of the actual condition before spending on cleaning or recovering.

What a sofa is realistically worth

Original price and age help identify the sofa, but do not establish its current offer. Marketplace asking prices are not completed sales. A buyer also considers transport, handling, repair and resale risk.

Read our valuation guide and confirm whether the offer is provisional until inspection.

Compare the complete set with separate pieces

Show a complete set together and list which pieces you are selling. A matching set can be practical for resale, but bundling does not guarantee a higher return per item.

If you want to sell one sofa and keep the armchair, state that before the offer. Compare the actual arrangement rather than assuming one rule fits every set.

The details that quietly cost you money

  • Missing feet. Sofa legs get removed for a move and put in a drawer that then gets emptied. Without them the piece cannot be shown to a buyer sitting normally.
  • Broken recliner mechanisms. Parts are rarely available and labour makes repair uneconomic.
  • Sofa beds that stick. The mechanism is most of the value; if it does not run smoothly, it is a heavy sofa.
  • Cushion covers that were washed and shrank. Common, and very visible.
  • Smoke or pet odour. Buyers will not take the risk on it, whatever the sofa looks like.

Getting the best number for a single sofa

One sofa on its own is the hardest thing to sell well, because sending a van and two people for a single item is most of the economics. Three things help.

  1. Be flexible on the day. If a buyer can add you to a run already going to your building, the numbers work better for both of you.
  2. Photograph it properly. Both arms, the back, the cushions lifted, and honest shots of any damage. Our guide to how used furniture gets valued explains why this changes the offer.
  3. Add anything else you are getting rid of. A coffee table, a rug, a lamp. Volume improves the per-item price.

Sell your sofa
