Selling a Dining Table and Chairs in Dubai: Sets, Condition and Access

Living and dining room with a grey sofa and wooden dining table

Dining furniture follows one rule more strictly than any other category in the house: the set is the product. A six-seater table with six chairs is a dining room. A six-seater table with four chairs is a table, and it is worth a great deal less than two thirds of the set.

Understanding why explains most of what happens when you get a quote.

Record the included chairs

State the table and exact chair count, including any damaged chair. A matching set can be useful, but missing chairs do not impose a universal percentage reduction.

Ask for an assessment of the actual set. Do not throw out a potentially repairable chair or hide its fault before the quote.

Check the top and base together

Wood, veneer, board, glass and stone each need condition and handling checks. There is no universal material ranking for every offer.

Show chips, cracks, water marks, loose fittings and repairs. Do not identify stone or timber by appearance alone. Ask before paying for refinishing or repair.

What buyers check on the chairs

Chairs take more abuse than any other furniture in the house, and they fail in predictable places.

  • Joint wobble. Sit on each one and rock it slightly. Loose joints are usually repairable; cracked rails are not.
  • Seat pads. Fabric seats stain, and dining chair seats stain more than most. Removable pads that can be recovered are much better news than fixed upholstery.
  • Front leg damage. Chairs get dragged, and the front legs take it. Check for splits near the foot.
  • Consistent finish. Chairs that have been repaired or refinished individually stand out against the rest of the set.

Include dimensions and access

Record the dimensions and any extending leaves. Large tables may need a different handling plan, but size alone does not decide demand or price.

Tell the buyer whether the top separates and describe doorways, lift access and narrow turns.

Console tables, sideboards and the rest

Sideboards and buffet units in solid wood sell well and are frequently undervalued by their owners, particularly older carved pieces. Console tables are modest. Display cabinets with glass doors are slow sellers unless the piece is genuinely good.

If a sideboard was bought with the dining set, sell it with the dining set. The matching-set logic applies here too.

Common questions

Can I sell chairs without a table?

You can ask. State quantities, condition and collection details.

Should I repair marks first?

Get an assessment before spending. Material and damage affect whether a repair is worthwhile.

What about chipped glass?

Disclose it and do not use unsafe furniture to demonstrate it. Ask about an appropriate route for the actual item.

Getting a dining set quoted

Photograph the table from above and from the side, all the chairs together in one shot so the count is clear, a close-up of the table edge, and any damage.

Send it on WhatsApp for a photo-based assessment. Free collection across every area of Dubai, and dining furniture is usually collected alongside the living room or as part of a full home clearance.
