How to Photograph Furniture for a Clear Quote in Dubai

Living and dining room with a grey sofa and wooden dining table

Good furniture photos show the whole item, its faults, included parts and the route out. They help a Dubai buyer make a clearer assessment. They do not guarantee a higher offer or remove the need for an inspection.

Use ordinary phone photos in good light. Avoid filters, heavy blur or angles that conceal wear.

Start with a whole-item photo

Move loose objects off the furniture so the shape and condition are visible. Stand far enough back to show the whole piece without cutting off its legs or corners.

For a set, show the included pieces together and state the count. A dining table with four chairs should not be described as a complete six-chair set.

Show damage on purpose

Photograph tears, scratches, stains, swollen panels and broken fittings. Add one wider image so the buyer knows where the damage is.

If a fault does not show well in photos, describe it in writing. Odours, intermittent electrical problems and unstable joints should not be omitted because the image looks clean.

Our valuation guide explains why condition matters.

Add useful identification and dimensions

Show model labels where accessible. Include width, depth and height for large items. Do not tip heavy furniture or remove a mounted appliance just to take a label photo.

For appliances, state what works and what does not. A photograph of a power light is not proof of full operation. See our appliance selling guide.

Include collection details

Tell the buyer your Dubai area, floor, lift and loading arrangements. A photo of a narrow doorway or staircase can help explain access, but avoid exposing unnecessary personal details.

For a large home, a slow walkthrough video can supplement the inventory. Say what is included and what stays. It should not replace close-ups of important defects.

Keep the enquiry concise and complete

You do not need dozens of repeated photos of one sofa. Include enough different views to answer the practical questions, then label unusual details in the message.

Send the same photo set and item list when comparing buyers. If the inventory changes, update everyone before agreeing a collection.

Common questions

Should I deep-clean before taking photos?

A basic tidy and wipe can make condition easier to see. Check the likely return before spending on professional cleaning or restoration.

Can a video replace all photos?

A walkthrough helps with quantities, but labels and defects may still need separate images.

Will a buyer still inspect before payment?

Possibly. Ask whether the amount is provisional and what inspection is required. Clear photos reduce uncertainty; they do not make hidden issues impossible.
