Selling Used Appliances in Dubai: Condition, Ownership and Collection

Kitchen with a fridge, washing machine and oven

When selling used appliances in Dubai, send the model, current condition, known faults and collection details. Confirm ownership and safe removal before booking. A working appliance can be assessed for reuse, but a fault does not automatically mean it has a payable scrap value.

For a purchase enquiry, use our used appliance buying service. This guide covers the details that make an assessment useful.

Identify each appliance

Record the brand, model and approximate age where known. Include capacity or screen size if relevant. Photograph the accessible label without tipping or pulling a heavy unit on your own.

State whether the item is freestanding, built-in, stacked or fixed to building services. In a furnished rental, check that it belongs to you before offering it for sale.

Describe operation honestly

Mention leaks, noise, display faults, error codes, cooling problems and previous repairs. A picture of an appliance powered on does not establish that all its functions work.

If safe, coordinate an ordinary demonstration with the buyer before disconnection. Do not run equipment with a known electrical, gas or serious water fault just to obtain a quote.

Missing shelves, hoses, remotes, stands and fittings should be listed too. Small accessories can affect whether the next owner can use the appliance as intended.

Do not apply one price rule to every category

A fridge, washing machine, television and small kitchen device have different repair, handling and demand considerations. There is no universal age, capacity or screen-size cutoff shared by every buyer.

Do not pay for repairs on the assumption that the cost will be added to the offer. Get an assessment in the current condition and compare any repair quote against the possible improvement.

Our furniture valuation guide explains why original price alone is not current resale value.

Agree technical work separately

Ask who handles disconnection and transport preparation. Gas, electrical, refrigeration and complex installed equipment may need an appropriate technician. A furniture collection does not automatically include that work.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for shutdown, draining, defrosting, transit fittings and handling. Different models require different procedures.

For TVs and connected devices, remove accounts and personal data using the manufacturer’s guidance before handover. Keep personal drives and accessories that are not included in the sale.

Confirm payment and collection scope

List the accepted appliances and any furniture being collected together. Ask whether the offer is provisional until inspection and whether loading or specialist work has a separate cost.

Share the floor, lift, narrow access and approved moving hours. Coordinate the collection with your wider handover and utility arrangements. Our leaving-the-UAE checklist helps you plan the furniture part of that timeline.

Common questions

Can faulty appliances be sold?

You can enquire with full fault details. A buyer may assess a repair, decline the item or suggest disposal. Do not describe it as fully working.

Should I disconnect everything before the quote?

Discuss the assessment and removal plan first. Arrange any safe demonstration before shutdown, without treating that as a reason to keep faulty equipment running.

Is a combined appliance and furniture collection cheaper?

It may simplify handling. Compare the actual net payment and included work rather than assuming bundling always improves the return.
